Led by our Creative Action Coordinator and South Philly teens/young adults, these sessions offer neighbors and visitors the opportunity to experience Aquinas Center’s mission while collectively exploring an issue that impacts our community. Each session will last between 90 minutes and two hours. It will have a primary theme and a coordinating hands-on action with an advocacy component.
For example, the first session on Murals and Food Justice, will involve learning about herbs and vegetables grown in our multicultural community garden and then working on mural panels that display images of this produce. Participants will discuss food justice and food sovereignty.
The Creative Action series was inspired by the successful Monarcas Project, which engaged over 450 people and generated 3,200 origami butterflies that speak to the theme “Migration is Natural.”
RSVP for each Creative Action session individually using a link that will be posted about a month prior to the Creative Action gathering. Questions? Contact Mara at firstname.lastname@example.org. The sessions are FREE and families are welcome to attend together with ages 10 and up.
